Since 2009, Hamann International Logistics obtained the Environmental Charter East Flanders each year. They achieved this thanks to their general environmental policy and the extra effort for the environment during the recent years.

In 2016 the Hamann team decided to go even further: for the first time we took part in the Sustainable Business Charter.

This Charter takes into account the 3P’s: People, Planet, Profit.

Some concrete examples of actions in the context of our sustainable business are:

  • Replacement of the fleet of own vehicles;
  • Further development of Environmental and Safety instructions and work post sheets;
  • Measuring the employee satisfaction;
  • Increased focus on training, guiding and coaching of employees;
  • Focus on even better supervision of students and trainees;
  • Extensive reception policy for new employees;
  • Updating function and role descriptions (including competencies);
  • Achieving the ISO14001:2015 certificate;
  • Obtaining IFS and Bio-certificate (regarding food safety);
  • Installation of electric charging stations on the site;
  • Analysis of waste streams: how can these be improved with the current way of working and in the current building? Integration of these results into the study for the future construction;
  • Rework and update the emergency procedures in cooperation with an external party;

In the future, we want to continue working on this through the expansion of our focus to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations within the theme of the 5P’s: People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace and Partnership.

In 2016 Hamann International Logistics also registered on the EcoVadis platform where an independent agency assessed our achievements in terms of sustainability. We achieve a ‘silver’ result for that. This will be updated in 2018.

All these actions and more are described in detail in the 2017-sustainability report of Hamann International Logistics (drawn up in accordance with the GRI guidelines).
